The Transposition into French Laws
On July 20, 2005 , France has published the Decree n° 2005-829 relating to the composition of electrical and electronic equipment and to the elimination of waste from this equipment. This decree merges the European Union directives on the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) into a single regulation corpus.

The WEEE Directive
aims to improve the level of recycling of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and encourages designers to develop products with recycling efficiency in mind.
The RoHS Directive aims to limit the use of certain substances commonly used in designing electrical and electronic equipment.
